Position: E-Trading Engineer (100%)

Job Description: 

  • Involved in all aspects of e-trading engineering from change-the-bank projects to run-the-bank support.
  • Direct communication and collaboration with the trading desks and project stakeholders to gather, specify and document requirements.
  • Analysis, design and implementation of order management, order routing and algorithmic execution strategies.
  • On-desk daily business support cover for the Equities, Bonds and FX trading desks and other front-office users , including on-call.
  • Participation in regression and acceptance testing, execution of test cases and test cycles for releases.
  • Contribute to the overall evolution of the trading platform, architecture and strategy.

Education/ Competencies/ Experience: 

  • egree in computer science, engineering or economics
  • 5+ years’ experience from front-office software engineering within the financial industry
  • Excellent understanding of the Equities, Bonds and FX financial markets (in particular the European based exchanges and their protocols, products and services offered)
  • Excellent understanding of low-latency, high-performance trading technology (from architecture decisions to monitoring solutions)
  • Excellent understanding of order management workflows, order execution rules and best-execution algorithms
  • Excellent communicator and ability to work with IT, traders and business analysts alike, also during hectic production support situations
  • Recognized trading license is a plus
  • Good skills in writing business and technical documentation
  • Good Java (J2SE) programming skills, with a focus on low-latency and high-performance
  • Good understanding of unit test frameworks, the JUnit test suite and code coverage tools
  • Good understanding of the FIX protocol. Other protocols (e.g. ITCH/OUCH) are a plus
  • Good understanding of agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum) and tools (e.g. Atlassian suite)
  • Good German and English (fluent in one, proficient in one).
  • Product experience from vendor’s such as Ullink, SmartTrade and QuantHouse a plus
  • Self-driven team player with excellent ability to work in a fast paced front-office environment
